Levine, a psychologist, and professor of psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine, believes that sustaining long-term friendships takes work. ‘It means setting aside time to be with your friend and finding other ways to stay in touch, supporting her successes and being there for her when she has problems. There may be times when one friend is more needy than the other, but overall there needs to be a sense of balance.'”
