It was the night of the big sleepover with a group of girlfriends, and Michelle and I were assigned to share a room. I was not sure of the protocol for sleepovers, so I decided when it was time for lights out I would just shut my eyes and go to sleep. Then, Michelle started talking in hushed whispers, sharing secrets and talking on matters about which she felt deeply, and a fast friendship formed. We talked long into the night….
