Thanks to Eaglewings for flagging this article on toxic friends that resulted from a survey conducted by Today.com and Self Magazine.

The results suggest that a staggering 84 percent of women and 75 percent of men have toxic friendships. I provided background information to the writer, Diane Mapes, some of which is outlined in the chart on How to Detox Your Friendships. You can read the entire article here.

The survey results are also discussed in an article in today’s UK Mail.

I have noticed a trend, noticed it too late in life, that my friends hold different people to different standards.
For example, it it very clear that I am held to a higher standard than Jane’s (not her real name) other friends.
She allows her other friends to be abnoxious, rude, inappropriate, but I am expected to walk on egg shells, not allowed to make any miss-steps. My clothing, house, husband, hobbies, are open to criticism, while her other friends get away with the most unbelievable behavior.
    What is going on here?!?!?!?
