Sometimes women feel like they “lose a part of themselves” when they enter relationships with guys. In this article in Women’s Health Magazine, writer Sara Eckel tells her own story and suggests ways to “rediscover the best parts of singlehood” and stay true to yourself.
She writes:
Otherwise, if you consistently miss out on things, “the relationship may feel like a strait jacket—and that can lead to a lot of frustration and unhappiness,” says Irene S. Levine, Ph.D., a professor of psychiatry at the New York University School of Medicine. Allow yourself (and your guy) the space to pursue your own interests and you’ll both be more well-rounded individuals—and, in the end, a happier couple.
