In the Media – New movie about male friendships
USA Weekend interviews The Friendship Doctor on male friendships
I haven’t seen the movie yet (it will open on November 1) but the storyline of Last Vegas is interesting because it focuses on the often neglected and misunderstood topic of male friendships. In the movie, four 60-something pals reunite to celebrate their friendship as the last remaining bachelor among them gets hitched.
The movie stars Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, Robert DeNiro, and Kevin Kline. My guess is that the film focuses more on the fun rather than the serious aspects of male bonding—but I’m waiting to see it. In any event, it sounds like it was a hoot for these superstars to spend time with each other.
I was pleased when journalist Anne Oldenburg of USA Weekend asked me to chime in on the topic of male friendships when she interviewed the stars.
Oldenburg writes about the film in the weekend magazine insert on October 25, 2013:
The magic of the movie rests in the camaraderie and the chemistry of the four men. Their characters were boyhood buddies, but have had a falling out. Now, they’re reuniting for one last hurrah, a bachelor party in Vegas, as one of them is about to get married.
The friendship comes back, emerging slowly but surely.

I can’t wait to see this movie once it comes out here in Canada. In my opinion these old boys are terrific! I especially love Robert DeNiro!
Sienna, did you see Michael Douglas in Liberace with Matt Damon? Great acting! And, great movie!
Might be entertaining, but Morgan Freeman again? And Michael Douglas, haven’t seen him in many good movies at all.
