In the Media – When all your friends are getting engaged (Brides)
If you’re a certain age, this may be the time of year when all your friends are getting engaged. Jillian Kramer writes in Brides Magazine:
“Engagement season takes place from Thanksgiving to Valentine’s Day,” says Amy Nichols, owner of Amy Nichols Special Event Planning and co-founded of The Poppy Group. “It likely has to do with the sentimental aspect of holidays, and year-end always seems to be a time for reflection and to start fresh.”
Given all the demands of the season, this may place additional pressures on friends. Kramer wrote about how to handle a flood of engagement announcements, suggesting that it’s in poor taste to not acknowledge or to simply brush off your friend’s special event.
“Enthusiastically acknowledge the engagement as soon as you hear about it, in person or over the phone, says Irene S. Levine, PhD, psychologist and professor of psychiatry at the New York University School of Medicine and producer of The Friendship Blog.
