Making Friendships that Stick

An old Turkish proverb goes like this, Bir Kahvenin kirk yil hatiri vardir, which translates into English: A cup of coffee commits one to 40 years of friendship. A common interpretation of the proverb is that no friendship should be taken lightly.

College campuses are fertile setting for making new friends. With shared interests, common experiences, and proximity, it’s not surprising that many of the friendships that begin in college dorms, classrooms, and social and athletic clubs last a lifetime. But many times, women don’t realize until it’s too late that without nurturance, female friendships are at high risk of falling apart.
