In the Media – When your friend copies your wedding (Brides)
October 28, 2015
Writing in Brides magazine, columnist Jillian Kramer tackles the thorny issue of a friend who copies the details of your wedding—it can certainly make you feel as if she is stealing your thunder on one of the most important days of your life.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But when you’ve worked hard to make your wedding day uniquely yours, the last thing you want is someone outright stealing your style, even a friend.
“Depending on the bride, the motivations of her friend, and the extent of the copying, it could make her feel proud and confident or disappointed and betrayed,” explains Irene S. Levine, Ph.D., psychologist and friendship expert at The Friendship Blog.
“And no one needs the latter. So whether your friend is taking a cue from your couture wedding gown or your calligraphy invitations, here’s what you can do.

I can relate to this, in a way. I used to work with a girl who would shop for exactly the same outfits as I bought for work. I made the mistake of showing some ppl in the office (including her) what I had bought during my lunch breaks.
Then after that, she came in to work wearing the exact same outfits as I had already bought.
I know that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, but it was a bit creepy seeing her dressed exactly the same as me at work.
After that, I stopped showing what I had bought, and I didn’t even wear the new clothes to work until they were no longer available at the shopping center close to the office.
It is strange when others copy clothes, bridal dresses and wedding plans.
