Weddings can be stressful—not only for the bride but also for her guests. Brides, grooms and their families often have to make some tough calls that don’t make everyone happy.

In this piece for Brides magazine, journalist Jillian Kramer tackles the problem of telling a close friend that she can’t bring a plus-one (date) to the wedding.

She interviewed the Friendship Doctor and wrote:

Levine PhD, psychologist and professor of psychiatry at the NYU School of Medicine and producer of The Friendship Blog.

“In fact, we want to go overboard in trying to make sure they enjoy our wedding day. So if you’re not sure how to tell her she’s got to attend solo without hurting her feelings or chances of having fun, we’ve got you covered.

Then she went on to offer some ways to make sure a difficult talk like this goes smoothly.
