Women in their 20s and 30s may feel as if they are being pulled in different directions as they precariously juggle home, career and family. Spending time with a friend almost seems like a selfish indulgence. Yet spending time with friends is vital to our physical and emotional well-being.

Journalist Liz Alterman interviewed The Friendship Doctor for this article in the Stir.com that offers suggestions for squeezing “besties into your ridiculously busy life.”

“Sometimes, it feels like there isn’t a spare minute in the day as we try to balance working, home, and caregiving responsibilities,” Levine tells The Stir on CaféMom.com.

“It’s easy to toss friendships aside and neglect them, because it almost feels self-indulgent. Nothing could be further from the truth. Having close friends makes us better mothers, wives, lovers, and workers.”
