What does friendship have to do with confidence?

International Women’s Friendship Month

The Confidence Coalition is sponsoring a contest in celebration of International Women’s Friendship Month…

Why? Because friendships require confidence.

Choosing the right friends entails feeling deserving and worthy. It requires having the confidence to develop relationships that are reciprocal and balanced so you aren’t always on the giving end.

Confidence is also entailed in keeping friends. Friendships take work. You need to be brave enough to take risks: To say something (in just the right way) when you’re feeling angry, frustrated or disappointed by a friend so that you both can overcome the hurdles that invariably pop up between any two people—and strengthen the relationship.

Ironically, friendships help build self-confidence, too. (Read a prior post on this blog that I wrote for International Women’s Friendship Month a couple of year ago. It describes Five Ways Friends Can Help Your Confidence.)

About the contest:

This year, the Confidence Coalition is hosting a photo contest for International Women’s Friendship Month.

Women can enter a friendship photo and caption that answers the question, “How does friendship build your confidence?” They’ll be entering for a chance to win a Girlfriends Getaway for two to Memphis (including round-trip airfare for two and a two-night hotel stay) and a private lunch with author and speaker Leigh Anne Tuohy, whose family inspired the movie The Blindside.

The contest ends September 9th, 2013.

Wishing you the joy of wonderful friendships this month and always~
