In the Media – 9 Signs You Don’t Have Quality Friendships (Bustle)
July 28, 2016
It isn’t the number, per se, but rather the quality of our friendships that counts. Isn’t it?
We all want satisfying friendships that soothe our souls and lift our spirits.
Having quality friendships is a function of choosing the right friends—as well as continuing to nurture those relationships, by being a good friend to others. Sometimes, it entails letting go of friendships that shouldn’t have made the cut in the first place or ones that turned negative and unrewarding over time.
Writing for Bustle, Toria Sheffield identifies nine signs that you don’t have quality friendships. She writes:
Friendship is one of those universally loved parts of life. Good friends can make hard times easier, and the good times all the better. It’s why figuring out if you’re in need of more friends, or perhaps more importantly, in need of better quality friendships, is so incredibly important.
In the article she quotes several experts, including Dr. Levine. She writes:
According to psychologist and friendship expert Irene Levine, PhD, a telltale mark of a bad friend is when they can’t be depended upon. If you don’t feel as though you have anyone in your life that you can count on, it’s likely a sign you’re in need of more true friends.
