Because a few individuals were recently abusive on the Friendship Forums, all users will now be required to register with an email address, user name and password before they will be able to add comments.

I apologize for upset caused by a small minority who inconvenienced so many well-intended users.

Hope this helps!

Best, Irene

I am not sure why this is happening, my post does not show up after I hit submit.

I’m confused with the new sign in procedure. I haven’t been here in months and now I can’t login using my old username so now I have to create a new username? So now none of my old posts will show up? I’ll be a whole new member?

I admit, it is an inconvenience to have to create an account. I have always conducted myself with courtesy towards others and it seemed most of the users did as well. What happened that caused the change? Sometimes I like having the privacy to just leave a post rather than have all my actions tracked, etc. This website is a great help to many (myself included). I would like to continue using it. Thank you for having a safe place where people can talk things over!

Unfortunately, as often happens in Internet Forums, there were some instances when posters were profane or abusive to others. Thanks for your note.

Loneliness to me is unsolvable. I hope i can chat on your forum and blogs (not that I know the difference between those two)

Just quickly wanted to say that I am logged in with my unique password and I am able to post on “Mingle on the Forums” and all other places on this blog. The new system is working well and it’s good to have it in place. 🙂

Irene has created a wonderful website here on her unique and wonderful Friendship Blog. So many people have received good advice from Irene, Amy and so many wise, kind-hearted, polite, thoughtful people.

I’m willing to do this. Just confused I thought I’d receive an email to set up a password? checked junk, nothing. But it lets me post here?? we will see.

Registration is an excellent idea for this great website

I’m happy this was put in motion. This was always a safe place to come during hard times, it was disheartening when it took a negative turn this past week or so. A home away from home. A great community of supportive people. I really enjoyed my time here.

I’m not sure if anyone else is having trouble registering, but it hasn’t been working for me. Not sure if something is going wrong on my part, or some other reason.

Thank you for this amazing site, Irene. It has really help me more than I can ever express in words :-).

  10. Sandra says:

Agreed — and sorry to hear you’ve had troubles!

  11. Liz15 says:

Thank you Irene, I wanted to say that your blog has meant a lot to me over the years. This requirement is a good thing, but sorry that there have been some issues. I really admire how you handle things.

  12. Irene says:

Thanks for all your positive contributions! Sam, I’ve deleted your last name. No last names, please, to protect yourself against those nasty spammers (cousins of the forum abusers:-)

  13. Sam says:

This is a very reasonable condition to apply to postings and I suppose I am surprised that it hadn’t been implemented ages ago. The only one who are likely to complain, are those who abuse others.

    Thanks Irene

Sorry there are always a few bad apples… Thanks for all you do for this site… It has value for many…..
