I am posting this here because this is the forum on which several offensive posts have appeared during the last week.
I tried to look through all of the posts and deleted those that appear to be personal attacks or intended to provoke. I will do that periodically and hope forum users will make use of the contact form to let me know of any I miss.
However, deleting a post is a judgement call. What one person finds offensive may be perfectly reasonable to another. If you disagree with my decisions, I am happy to reconsider. However, the final decision will ultimately be mine.
To reassure those who have asked about the privacy of their messages, NO ONE has access to your names or email addresses, not even me. Only the webmaster has access to IP addresses–not names or email addresses. If someone makes repeated posts that are considered inflammatory to this community, their IP address will be barred from further posting on the site.I hope I don’t have to take such steps but will not hesitate to do so.
Many of you have written about how helpful the forums have been. The number of posts that have appeared within a relatively short period of time and the high quality of their content attest to that. The candor with which people feel they can post is also impressive. I hope we can continue to exchange our experiences in the helpful and supportive tone that exists here the large majority of the time.
My best wishes for a good holiday weekend.

To address problems with spam, on Aug 11 the Webmaster changed the settings on this blog so anonymous posters can’t enter any personal contact information.
To enter your name, you need to register/login.
Hope this explains the change and gives you an option as to how you want to post.
